Monument Number 387011

Hob Uid: 387011
Location :
Suffolk
Mid Suffolk
Bacton
Grid Ref : TM0497067160
Summary : Remains of homestead moat at Manor House Farm.
More information : (TM 0498 6715) Moat (NR). (1)

Manor House Farm retains three sides of a quadrangular moat, the
south side having been filled up. (2)

Manor House Farm was extensively remodelled in the early 18th century
(see photo) but is not outstanding. The moat which formerly
surrounded the earlier house was probably filled in during the 18th
century park landscaping. Remains of the moated ditch can be seen as
a vague depression averaging 10.0m wide by 0.5m deep around the N
and W sides of the house, but elsewhere it is lost.

Published 25" survey revised. (3)
