Summary : Earthwork remains of motte and bailey. A Roman sherd and 13th or 14th century quern fragment have been found on the motte.

Discovered 1850 visited 1880 (see TM 28 NE 12). (3)

Sherd of RB pottery and fragment of rotary quern found 1948. Fragment of large storage jar, probably 13th cent. found 1949. (4)

An excellent example of a small motte and bailey castle in good condition and topographical situation. Extensive local research has failed to reveal any historical background. Published survey 1:2500 revised. (5)
