Summary : Preceptory of Knights Templars from 1199-1312, and camera of the Hospitallers 1312-1540. Destroyed by coastal erosion.
More information : (TM 480700. See map diagram). A preceptory of the
Knights Templars confirmed by King John in 1199,passed to the
Knights Hospitallers 1308-12. A chaplain but not a preceptory
was then maintained until the dissolution in 1540, when the
temple church of Our Lady, or Blessed Mary and St John also went
out of use. (1-2)
