R.B. building at Rapsley excavated by J. McCulloch in 1957 when a mosaic room, steps and heated rooms were discovered (2). Remains surveyed [See photostat plan] (3). Excavation in 1961 by Lady Hanworth uncovered a second building to the south of the house, [at 'A' - TQ 07994150]. Pottery - 2nd c. onwards (2). Excavation continues, interim notes (4). (2-4)
Excavations continuing 1966. Trial pits dug under the lawns in the area between the 1957 and 1961 excavations show the site to be of considerable extent with the limits yet to be determined. The 1961-65 excavations are to be filled in, but the main block comprising dwelling house and bath will be left open and preserved. Surveyed at 1/2500. (5)
