Location :

Grid Ref : SP5907024470
Summary : A fire party house (fire station) at RAF Bicester technical site. It was built in 1938 to replace one built in 1926 (which was also still extant in 2003). The architectural style of the fire party house matches the existing 1920s buildings that were already on the site: it is built of brick with a hipped slate roof and is "T" shaped in plan. An English Heritage report produced in May 2003 recommended that the fire party house should be considered for future potential Listed Building status.
More information : An English Heritage report produced in May 2003 recommended that the 1938 "Fire Party House" (Building 87) should be considered for potential future Listed Building status, possibly at Grade II. It notes that this building took over the function of fire party house from an earlier building at the technical site guardhouse (also still extant in 2003 as "Building 89"). It decribes the architectural treatment of the 1938 version as being "consistent with the 1920s buildings on the base". (1)

Plan SP 5824 and SP 5924 shows a T- shaped building conforming to the plan and situation of the building known from photographs at SP 5907 2447. It is located to the south east of the water tower, marked "Tank" on the map. (2)

Listed at grade II. (3)
