Summary : A Second World War bombing decoy at Sibsey that was built to deflect enemy bombing from Royal Air Force Coningsby airfield. This was a 'Q-type' decoy, which displayed a series of lights to simulate an active airfield. It also served as a decoy for the Manby armament training station and Royal Air Force East Kirkby, for which it is referenced as being in use during August 1942. By the early 1970s the decoy site had been given over to agricultural use and no features of the decoy survive. Further decoy sites for Royal Air Force Coningsby airfield and Manby were located at Hagnaby, Frithville and Mablethorpe.
More information : A Second World War 'Q-type' bombing decoy located at Sibsey (TF 367 528). It was constructed to deflect enemy night boming from RAF Coningsby. It was also a decoy for Manby and later for RAF East Kirkby, for which it is referenced as being in use on 12-AUG-1942. Further bombing decoys for RAF Coningsby were located at Hagnaby (TF 352 618) and Frithville (TF 298 496). (1)

By 1970 aerial photogaphy shows that the Sibsey decoy site had been given over to agricultural use and no features of the decoy survive. (2)
