Summary : "Job's Cross", which takes its name from Job's Tenement, now stands North of the farm at the cross roads. It was found in 1906 acting as a gate post on the path from Job's Tenement to Cardaze where the path crosses the stream. It was set up in its present position in 1952. It is a much damaged wheel-headed cross with shaft but has now been restored and now only part of the head and shaft are original. |
More information : "Job's Cross", which takes its name from Job's Tenement, now stands N of the farm at the cross roads (SX 01157671) (3). It was found in 1906 acting as a gate post on the path from Job's Tenement to Cardaze where the path crosses the stream (2) (at SX 00807567). It was set up in its present position in 1952. It is a much damaged wheel-headed cross with shaft but has now been restored and now only part of the head and shaft are original. (1-3) SX 01167672. As described; 2.0 metres high, the restored head is 0.6 metres across, and set in a modern base. The remains of two iron hangers are visible in the shaft. Positioned on 1:2500. (4)
