More information : (TQ 52326348) Shoreham Castle Farm (NAT) (TQ 52516351) Castle (NR) (Remains of) (1) Shoreham Castle, formerly called Lullingstone, was a manor in the E.14th c., (a) and it is so described until 1715. It was in ruins in Leland's time (b), and the only surviving remains are two massive fragments of flint walling immediately E. of the present farmhouse. Traces of a moat are mentioned by M.H.L.G. (c) but no evidence of this could be found. The present farmhouse built out of the ruins (b) is an irregular-shaped timber-framed structure, much altered in the 18th and 19th c. and of little architectural interest.
