Summary : The site of a Roman Bloomery was identified by a slag deposit in Coalpit Wood.
More information : TQ 652285, Coalpit Wood. Site of Roman bloomery,
identified by a slag deposit on the side of a small gill. It is
an outlier of the Bardown settlement (TQ 62 NE 4), to which it is
linked by a clearly defined track mettalled with iron slag.(1)
