Summary : Earthwork remains of a medieval moat; two arms of a waterfilled homestead moat 12 metres wide are visible to the south of the house and traces of the dry east arm 8 metres wide are visible but no trace of earlier house foundations were found within the moat enclosure. The present house is basically 17th century with alterations and additions of the 18th century when windows were inserted and the front door case, fireplaces and panelling; circa 1900 hall fireplace and the 'gothic room'; and the 20th century. The plan is of three conjoined parallel gabled ranges aligned north-south and of two storeys and attic. |
