Summary : A medieval wayside cross head which was found in a ditch on the Trannack estate in 1887. Is now mounted on the boundary wall of Sancreed churchyard. The original site of the cross is unknown but was probably used as a route marker.
More information : [SW 4200 2935] Sancreed No.1 Cross- (On the churchyard
wall) Found lying in a ditch on an estate called Trannack about
1887, by the Rev. R. Basset Rogers. It was re-erected in an old
socket in Sancreed churchyard. The shaft and base are still
missing.
Dimensions Height 1' 10", width 2' 1", thickness 9". The crosses
on front and back are alike.

It is at SW 4200 2934.

The greater part of the head of a wheelhead cross, minus shaft
and base, is set on top of the churchyard wall on the north side
of the west entrance gate of Sancreed churchyard.

It was found at Trannack (SW 417307) about 1887 and may have marked
the path from Trannock to Sancreed Church.
