More information : Two heaps of small stones not like the usual surface
moorstones? Barrows. At 'A' SW 4609 3855 and B' SW 4620 3838 (1)
A 25-inch survey has been made of an irregular shaped mound of
small stones, at 'A' SW 4612 3853. It is piled against the south west face of a mass of granite outcrop, and has a maximum height
of 0.7 m.
This may be the remains of a cairn which has been considerably
robbed of stones for the constrction of the nearby field wall,
but insufficient remains to allow a positive identification.
The only artificial heap of stones which could be found in the
area of Miss Dudley's 'barrow' 'B' is the spoil from a modern
pit. The ground is strewn with small stones, but these seem to be
in their natural position, and are nowhere piled into a heap. (2) |
