More information : (SW 855322) Mill pond and dam shown). (1) There was a sea mill belonging to the monks at Place (see SW 83 SE 2 for priory cell). A mill was recorded here by Leland and shown on a map of 1597. The mill was working in 1812 and advertised for lease in 1848 but was destroyed about 1860, the pond being filled to form the present lawn of Place House (SW 855321). (2-4)
