More information : (SX 26658230) Polyphant Bridge. At Hicksmill, where the old coaching road crosses the River Inny, is a bridge with one small ancient arch. The rest of the bridge was rebuilt after the flood of 1847. (1) The eastern arch is the earlier of the two and has double arch rings which, with the central cutwater pier, are constructed from thin slabs of ragstone. Visually it is undateable. The arch is 4.0m wide at the base; that to the west is 5.0m wide. Correctly portrayed on OS 25" 1954. (2)
