According to White's Devonshire Directory published in 1850, Haine Castle was said to have been 'a large quadrangular mansion, in the castellated style, erected 40 years ago'. (Circa 1810) (6,7)
On the 1884 OS Map, scale 1:2500, the site of Haine Castle is marked at SX 4238886375. (8)
On the 1906 OS Map, scale 1:2500, the site of Haine Castle is marked at SX 4238886375. (9) It is likely that in his Devonshire Directory, White mistakenly identified the country house located nearby as Haine Castle. This house was built circa 1810 and according to its listed building description has the battlemented parapet White indicates. (10)
According to the author of this website, it is unlikely that a castle stood on this site and that the historic maps may have been incorrectly annotated. (11)

According to correspondence from a PastScape user, it is a possibility that the unidentified building on top of a hill in the engraving featured in source 13 may have been Haine Castle. (14)
According to correspondence from another PastScape user, the current land owner of the site of haine castle, as far as they are aware the castle was demolished when it got into a state of disrepair and used to build the current Haine manor. There are two stone walls now running round the field edge built with the remaining stone. (15)
