More information : (SX 56786319) Emmets Post (NAT) (Cairn) (NR). (1) "Emmets Post stands on a fair-sized tumulus, which at least looks ancient". (2) "This is a modern stone post on the tumulus". (3) The barrow at Emmets Post is sharp sided, 10.5m. in diameter and 1.3m. high, situated in a crest position at 288m. OD. There is no visible ditch. The mound appears to be mainly of earth construction with a half dozen spaced stones protruding from the perimeter suggesting a retaining circle. There is a large hollow in the centre and to one side the boundary post demarcating the boundary between Lee and Shaugh Moors. Surveyed at 1:10 000 on PFD. (4)
SX 56786319. Bowl barrow at Emmets Post. The barrow mound measures 12 metres in diameter and up to 1.5 metres high. There is an oval depression in the centre of the mound, probably representing excavation in antiquity. A 19th century boundary stone (Listed Grade II) has been inserted into the south side of the mound. Scheduled. (6)
