More information : (SX 55387185) Hut Circle (NR) (1) A prehistoric pound of 0.601 acres, containing a hut circle. Now integrated with the present field system (Plan). (2-3) At SX 55377184, on a slight south-west slope there is a homestead, formed by an enclosed hut circle of Type 2 (SX 56 SE 19). It has internal diameters of 9.1m. by 8.2m. and a levelled interior. The walling, 1.3m. wide, incorporates some 'in situ' boulders and inner facing slabs, with small stones heaped against the outer face. It is from 0.5m. to 1.1m. high with an entrance gap on the south-east. (See ground photograph) The enclosure, Of 0.25 ha., has diameters of 58.0m. north-west to south-east and 48.0m. northeast to south-west. For 50.0m. on the south-west side the perimeter is represented by grass covered stony scarp 0.5m. high; elsewhere it is a 2.0m. wide spread of stones of similar height, upon which a strong modern field wall has been constructed.
