More information : (SX 67846957, SX 67916960, SX 67986964) Cairns (NR). (1)

These 3 cairns lie on the crest, at the north east end of a
ridge at 410m above OD.

A. SX 67846957. A round cairn, overall diameter 22.5m with a
central platform, 7m diameter and 0.6m high, surrounded by a rim,
7.8m average width and 0.9m high.

B. SX 67916959. This round cairn, overall diameter 19.8m, is
of similar form to A. having a central platform 8.7m diameter
and 0.6m high, surrounded by a rim, 5.5m average width and 1.0m
high.

C. SX 67986963 An oval cairn, 12m by 11m overall and 0.9m high
with a regular central depression, 6m diameter and 0.9m deep.
The surround is noticeably dipped to the east south east on the
long axis, where it is only 0.6m high. The even turf cover of the
stones and the regular profile suggest that this cairn has not
been disturbed and maintains its original form as a hollow
top cairn.

1:10 000 survey on PFD correct. Section 1:100 on 495. (2)

The above cairns visited and listed by Grinsell 13 September 1973
and a further cairn 'D' found, at SX 67876957, 10.0m. in diameter
and 0.6m. high with a hollow in or near the centre. (3)

Group centred SX 67916960. These features are as described by Authority 2. The additional feature described by Grinsell is somewhat enigmatic. While from some aspects it resembles a cairn it is probably the debris from a prospecting pit allied to the nearby extensive tinworking remains.

A further cairn (SX 66 NE 124) lies 60m to the SW at SX 67766950.
