More information : At 455m OD, on the flattish top of Pupers Hill, there is a rock outcrop known as Inner Pupers. It is at SX 67556741 not at SX 67556746 where it is shown on the OS 6". The rock is oriented north to south and probably about 9.0m long and 3.0m wide though the southern half is concealed, and from 1.4m to 2.5m high. Save where it obtrudes to the north the outcrop is encompassed, pincer fashion by a cairn of 13.0m overall diameter. It takes the shape of a platform, 0.4m high, around the rock, with a rim 1.5m wide and a further 0.4m high. The construction is of small stones though large 'natural' slabs protrude from the top of the cairn and around the sides. It is a curious hybrid being neither a simple "tor cairn", with stones heaped against an outcrop, nor a proper rimmed platform cairn. Discovered during field investigation. Surveyed at 1:10000 on PFD and at 1:1000 (see illustration). (1)
