More information : (SX 64086539) Enclosed hut group (NR) (1) A fine example of an enclosure. The walling consists of very large stones reaching a height of one metre; it contains three hut-circles and a number of 'courts' situated mainly on its north and western sides. No obvious entrance. (For details of hut circles see SX 66 NW 49). (2) On a southwest facing slope above the River Erme at about 400.0m. OD. is an enclosure covering an area of approximately 1.0 ha. and measuring 130.0m. x 100.0m. overall. The enclosure walling averages 2.6m. in thickness and 1.0m. in height, and is constructed of large boulders with some orthostats on either side. Inside the enclosure are three 'yards' abutting on the wall; they measure 20.0m. x 10.0m., x 9.0m. x 9.0m. and 20.0m. x 18.0m. respectively; this walling is very low and fragmentary. A hut circle is situated inside the enclosure at SX64056534. Its internal diameter is 5.0m. and an entrance on the southeast side. In a ruinous condition it may be of Type 2. There are no traces of the two huts previously published at SX 64106535. There is no position evidence of clearance inside or outside the enclosure. (Type 2 huts: SX 56 NE 71).
