Monument Number 443022

Hob Uid: 443022
Location :
Devon
South Hams
Holne
Grid Ref : SX6698071750
Summary : A Bronze Age round barrow is alleged at this location but there is no ground evidence to substantiate this. The monument may have been destroyed during stone extraction for road maintenance.
More information : (SX 66987175) Tumulus (NR) (1)

"..... a pillaged cairn south of the high road, and about 100
feet distant from it opposite Combestone...." (2)

This is no definite trace of a tumulus or cairn at this position
but the area has been extensively disturbed by shallow diggings,
which are surrounded by low banks, possibly for road
maintenance. (3)
