Summary : The remains of a Neolithic chambered cairn on Buttern Hill. The cairn survives as a mound standing up to 0.6 metres high. The chamber and associated entrance passage include seven orthostats, two of which form a portaled entrance. A leat runs to the west of the cairn.
More information : SX 65688855 Gidleigh South. Simple form of passage grave. A much robbed cairn, only the entrance and part of the ruined chamber can be traced. Located by Mr J Turner (1) during moor-walking 1978. (1)

SX 65678855 The ruined remains of a small chambered cairn set on a gentle west hillslope in stone-strewn moorland at 1200ft OD. All that remains is a slight mound and a chamber consisting of seven orthostats, two of which form a portaled entrance in the north east. The vestigial mound is 0.4m high on the north west and 0.6m on the south east. Several boulders scattered around the base may have once been part of the cairn.

SX 65678855. Chambered cairn, located on an east facing slope og Buttern Hill. The cairn mound measures 10 metres long by 6.5 metres wide and stands up to 0.6 metres high. The chamber and associated entrance passage include seven orthostats. A leat runs west of the cairn. Scheduled. (4)
