Grid Ref : SX6361091490
Summary : The damaged remains of a beacon built into a cairn.
More information : (SX 63619149) Cairn (NR) Cawsand Beacon (NAT) (1)

Cosdon or Cawsand Beacon, considered to be a pre-Elizabethan
beacon, is situated on an enormous cairn at the summit of
Cawsand Hill. Some of the damage done to the cairn could have
been caused by the digging of two large hollows, possibly to
receive the fuel for the beacon. (2-3)

SX63619150. Cairn 27m diameter, height 1.8m, crowned by modern stone heap and OS trig pillar. Large hollows in the top, from robbing, would have protected beacon fires. (4)
