More information : Tumuli [O.E.] [SX 7347 7174 and SX 7354 7173]. (1)

Western cairn: This had a flat crest with a dry stone wall
around the summit, only a small length of this now survives on
the west side.

Cairn diameter at base, 51'6"; at top 28'6"; and height 7ft.

Eastern cairn: This has a crater-like centre with two trenches
driven from the margin towards the centre, and 3 small round
chambers like hut circles within the margin. Diameter at base
about 60 ft., and height 7'-8'. (2)

The two cairns are as described by 2(a) except that both have
diameter of 18.0 m.

The crude dry stone wall around the western cairn, obviously
modern, survives as a semi-circular enclosure on the west side
of the cairn's flat top.

Also modern are the small circular shelters, central depression
and trenches which have mutilated the eastern cairn.

A 25" survey has been made. (3)
