Wingham Court, a large farmhouse, in good condition, was formerly

Archbishop John Peckham resided here in 1282 when he founded Wingham

The present building is a hall house; the screens were removed and
an upper storey was inserted in the 18th c. A Georgian facade was
added to the N side, and the W end was rebuilt and additions were
made on the S side in the mid 17th c. The foundations and cellars
are of flint rubble walling and contain a circular flint-lined well.
