Grid Ref : TA0900029000
Summary : The building known as Corporation Pier Station was only a booking hall, there being no railway platforms nor track. The Manchester, Sheffield and Lincoln Railway purchased the Humber Ferry in 1848 and paid Hull Corporation £40 per annum to use its pier to ferry passengers from Hull to its Grimsby and New Holland line on the South bank of the Humber. This cut the journey to London from Hull to 7 hours. The present building was built as a booking office and waiting area for the railway passengers and opened in 1880. Now closed and converted to offices in 1995.
