Summary : Traitors Gate at the Tower of London was built between 1275 and 1279 to provide accommodation for the King and a main water entrance from the river. It is so named because of the number of state prisoners that arrived via this entrance such as Anne Boleyn and Sir Thomas More. It had timber framing added in 1532-33 and was much restored in the 19th century.
