Summary : Outbuilding at White House Farm, formerly a bastle of late 16th or early 17th century date. It is made from large blocks of coursed red sandstone rubble with ashlar dressings and has a graduated greenslate roof. It is two storeys high and has two bays. The front has an upper floor entrance which is now reached by external stone steps. |
More information : NY 577389 White House Farm stands in the middle of the village and there is a bastle among the farm buildings. The walls are of large, rough ashlar and the doorway to the upper storey is approached by external stone steps. Bastles are dated to the 16th & 17th C. (1,2)
