Summary : The monument includes a tithe barn to Bolton Priory, situated to the south west of the monastic precinct in a barnyard complex. There were originally two barns within this complex however only one remains standing today. The surviving barn is stone built with an impressive timber superstructure of nine king-post frames to support the graduated stone slate roof. In the fifth bay of the ten bay barn lies a threshing floor. Known as the Great Barn it is though to be 16th century in date with later 19th and 20th century openings. Further remains of the other buildings and structures of the barnyard will be preserved below ground in the fields to the north and west of the barn. Scheduled and Listed Grade II*.
