Summary : The Clergy House is a stone building of three storeys. The earliest part, the front range, comprises a three bay house of single pile depth with a central heated entrance stair hall and a room to either side heated by gable stacks. Neither of these rooms would have served as a kitchen, therefore the building was probably not self-caontained but was always attached to something else. The present rear wing is set to one side so tha before the addition of the single storey link beyond the stairs, the only means of access would have been through one of the principle rooms. The front range was built in the early 19th century and the back range was added not long after this as they have very similar external facades. |
