Dandry Mire Viaduct

Summary : A railway viaduct carrying the Settle to Carlisle railway line over the Dandry Mire. It was built in 1869-75, for the Midland Railway Company. The architect was J H Sanders, the chief engineer was J S Crossley and the resident engineer was J Underwood. The viaduct is made from coursed sandstone and is approximately 200m long, running north-south and slightly curved. There are twelve segmental arches in three groups of four, springing from rectangular piers with broader pilastered piers between the groups and at each end.
