More information : Post medieval ridge and furrow, some of which may have medieval origins, is visible as earthworks on air photographs in the parish of Weston, centred at SJ 9771 2676. Elements of the ridge and furrow respect field boundaries of the same date (UID 1575653, 1575517, 1575656 and 1575655), most notably west of Shirleywich where the earthworks have been truncated by the Trent and Mersey Canal (UID 1340301) which was completed in 1777. Most of the earthwork elements are extant on the latest 2010 vertical photography. (1-2) |
