A motte and bailey, with traces of an outer bailey on the east and a small external mound, possibly a barbican, in the angle N.W. of the bailey, situated at Castle Hills, Langthwaite.
This was one of Nigel Fozzard's castles on lands held from Robert of Mortain [died 1091].

The name is spelt Hangthwaite on the OS map, but Langthwaite Dite is also shown. (2-3)

Correctly described and in good condition. Published survey (25") revised. (4)
