(1) A - at SE 584928 Cairn of stones 50ft diameter 4-5ft high; depression in centre. B - at SE 584929 The Hanging Stone, leaning to NW, 11ft long, 1ft 6ins wide, on 20ft cairn. (2) The two cairns are prominent features and are correctly described by McDonnell. In fair condition. Hanging Stone is a boundary marker. Surveyed at 1:10 000. (3) "SE 584929 - SE 587930. Three round barrows on Helmsley Moor. Scheduled" (?) Contained in the parishes of Bilsdale Midcable, Helmsley and Laskill Pasture). (4)
SE 5843 9290. Two round barrows and a boundary stone 800m E of Spout House Plantation. Scheduled RSM No 25553 (formerly NY/365). The S barrow stands 1.5m high with a diameter of 14m. A central depression marks a former excavation. The N barrow stands 1m high with a diameter of 10m. On its E flank lies a later boundary stone known as the Hanging Stone which formerly stood upright in the centre of the mound. The stone is 3.3m long and 0.5m square in section and has a large column of modern stones forming a cairn placed upon it. A second large stone, 2m long, lies on the S side of the mound. (5)
