A medieval moat is visible as an earthwork and cropmark and medieval ditches and ditches of uncertain date are visible as cropmarks on air photographs centred at SE 5521 1740.
The moat, at SE 5518 1742, is sub-rectangular in form and measures 40m by 46m. The ditch is crossed by a causeway to the south. A broad ditch leads from the eastern side of the moat and may be contemporary.
The moat appears to be levelled by ploughing and is visible as a cropmark by the latest 1990 oblique photography.
Other fragmentary ditches are visible to the south. (4-5) |
