Summary : A series of hollows are visible as earthworks on the banks of the River Swale, it is possible that these are medieval or post medieval fishponds. These features appear to survive as earthworks on recent air photos and lidar-derived images.
More information : A series of hollow are visible as earthworks on the banks of the River Swale at SE410 750. It is possible that these are medieval or post medieval fishponds and that they are associated with the nearby Cock Lodge moated manor (UID 55342) or even the motte and bailey castle (UID 55347). These features appear to survive as earthworks on 2007 oblique air photos and 2003 lidar-derived images.(1-3)
