In his list of mottes published in 1889, GT Clark noted a Mound at Clapham known as Robin Hood's Butt. He indicated that he was uncertain as to the interpretation of the mound as a motte or moated site commenting that "its character is doubtful". Please note that he mistakenly put this entry in the Lancashire section. (2)
