Summary : A small double-concentric ring ditch, one of a number of monuments examined as part of the Raunds area project. The monument comprised two continuous and closely spaced ditch circuits enclosing an area circa 3 metres in diameter. Within the enclosed area was a small central pit or post-pit. No diagnostic artefacts were recovered, and insufficient organic material was present to obtain a radiocarbon date. The inner ditch featured a recut and there may have been a small mound in the central area, or perhaps an internal bank. The monument may therefore have been a revetted post-setting rather than a barrow. |
