Summary : Landscape park and pleasure gardens to Marston House. The pleasure grounds were laid out between 1724-45 by Stephen Switzer and altered by William Sawrey Gilpin during the 1820s. The park was created during the late 18th century, possibly during the 1770s and 1780s.

Remains of pleasure ground and landscape park c. 100ha. Designed by Stephen Switzer, 1724-45, he was also responsible for the formal gardens which were destroyed in c.1776. Other additions and alterations subsequently took place and include those by Sir Jeffry Wyatville in 1819-22. The wooded park and pond was added in c. 1830. Switzer also responsible for the cascades. The pleasure grounds were laid out between 1724-45 by Stephen Switzer and altered by William Sawrey Gilpin during the 1820s. The park was created during the late 18th century, possibly during the 1770s and 1780s. (4)
