Summary : Post medieval Stone Haggs Ironstone workings formerly thought to be an ancient settlement. The morphology of the pits is similar to others in the North York Moors, most notably the Killing Pits south of Goathland, which may suggest these workings are medieval in origin. The workings are visible as earthworks on air photographs and were mapped as part of the North York Moors NMP. They are extant on the latest 2009 vertical photography. |
