Summary : The site of Looe Bridge, built 1411-36 and destroyed 1853 At the centre of the bridge stood St. Anne's Chapel, dedicated 1436, of which some traces remained in 1853. Leland (1506-52) records 12 or 16 arches and Bond describes it being 384 feet long, with 18 arches and width varying from 6feet 8inches to 10feet 3inches. It was demolished during the construction of the canal and railway, being replaced by the present bridge. |

At the centre of the bridge stood St. Anne's Chapel, dedicated 1436, of which some traces remained in 1853. Leland (1506-52) records 12 or 16 arches and Bond describes it being 384 ft. long, with 18 arches and width varying from 6ft. 8ins to 10ft. 3ins. It was demolished during the construction of the canal and railway, being replaced by the present bridge at SX 25395358. (2-3)
