The vestigial remains of a mound were found during the scheduling visit. It is predominantly earthen with some stone visible where sheep erosion had removed the vegetation. If this is the remains of the round barrow it has been severely truncated to the south and north. The evidence suggest the site of Sil Howe has been substantially destroyed. It has not, therefore, been recommended for scheduling, although there may still be surviving archaeological deposits which will merit investigation in the event of any future threat. (7) |
