NZ 9472 0070. A Bronze Age ring cairn, located on the western flank of Howdale Moor, east of Cook House. The cairn survives as a circular earth and stone bank with an overall diameter of 10 metres. Scheduled. (4)
An amorphous mound or enclosure was recorded centred at NZ 94723 00709 following a wild fire in 2003 which destroyed the ground vegetation of Stony Marl Moor. It is larger than described by authority 4 having an approximate maximum diameter of 23 metres. Also there appears to be a pit dug into it which may represent an old excavation trench. Field investigation interpreted it as a ring cairn which appears to have been re-used for the site of a round barrow. (5-6)
