Summary : Parish church of St Thomas the Martyr is mainly of 14th century. Early 14th century nave with north and south aisles (restored 19th century), late 15th century west tower, chancel of 1882-6, with crypt. Coursed rubble; slate roofs. The magnificent scale of the interior is explained by the fact that this was the chancel of the Benedictine priory, the remains of which lie immediately to the south (SD 50 NW 12). |
