Summary : Workshop at Royal Earlswood Hospital. Dated 1861 the workshop was built as a laundry and boot room and boiler shop. The earliest workshop building for mentally handicaped people known in the country. A Jacobean style building faced in Reigate stone with Bath stone stone dressings but patched with cement in places. The central block is of three storeys with four bays, the central bays project slightly, this has wings on either side which probably originally segregated male and female patients. To the rear is the a single storey building with a hipped roof which was originally the boiler room. The 20th century wing to the rear is not of special interest.
