Summary : Remains of a mid/late 15th century tower, originally forming part of a larger, moated, tower house. The tower was restored in 1871. Brick-built and two storeyed, with barrel vaulted basement and parapet wall walk. The basement was being used as a byre in 1967.

A 16th cent. brick tower, said to have been part of the mansion of the Holme family. In a ruinous condition. (2)

The tower has an original barrel-vaulted undercroft (now used as a cattle-byre) but is otherwise a roofless shell. It is, however, a good example of its period. No intelligible remains of the moat
survive. Published survey (25") revised. See photograph. (4)
