A small hill feature situated at the south side of Bilton. (2)

Probably a mediaeval motte. (3)

This feature is in very good condition, slopes 6 ft., water
as shown. (4)

TA 1567 3256. Swan Hill motte. Scheduled RSM No 21207. A raised earthen motte 1.5m high and 20m in diameter at its base, 13m at the flattened summit. Enclosed by a single dry moat 15m wide and 2m deep with a flat bottom 3m wide. Limited excavations were undertaken in the 1940s on the summit, which still shows signs of disturbance. (6)
