More information : TA 123103 DMV of Little Limber. Village earthworks lying principally W of Home Farm are recorded in low relief in pasture by APs (a) in 1946, and partly as low earth works, partly ploughed as soil marks in 1971, and have been further reduced since. (1)
The Medieval settlement referred to by the previous authorities was seen as earthworks and mapped from good quality air photographs. Most of the remains have been ploughed and are now visible as cropmarks. The remains of at least ten tofts are visible as embanked rectilinear enclosures, measuring on average 20m by 15m, are centred at TA 1230 1023. A hollow way extends between the tofts for 230m. Two mounds are visible within the tofts. One of these is referred to as a possible steading in TA 11 SW 10 but the function of this, or the other, mound is not clear. Possible croft boundaries extend north west and south east from the tofts. To the west of the tofts are more fragmentary remains of possible tofts and crofts centred at TA 1215 1038. A possible stack stand is visible as an earthwork to the south west of these, centred at TA 1202 1025. A possible mill mound is visible to the south of the settlement (see TA 11 SW 10 for the previous recording history of th emound). It is almost certainly related to the settlement.
