More information : Extensive areas of broad Medieval ridge and furrow were seen as earthworks and cropmarks in the parish of Sheriff Hutton and mapped from air photographs. Many of the remains surround the present village of Sheriff Hutton itself where continued survival is greatest Remains were also recorded at the deserted settlement of Cornborough (SE 66 NW 3) and at the deserted settlement of East Lilling (SE 66 SE 1). Elsewhere in the parish, more recent photography suggests that some areas may now be plough-levelled. (1-2)
