St.Bridget's Church, Brigham is early Norman (c 1070). with 12th to 14th cent. additions. There were severe restorations in 1865, and 1876. A 10th or 11th cent. crosshead is at the vicarage [NY 08823092] And other cross fragments of similar date are in the church. A bronze ring-headed pin of Viking type, was found in the foundations of the tower, and is now in Tullie House, Museum [Carlisle] (2-5)

There are ten fragments of 8th-11th century cross fragments in the church, including the one set over the vicarage porch until 1978, a 10th century hogback fragment, and an unidentified 10th 11th century fragment are also in the church. (7) |
